Privacy

This page is written in plain language, not legalese. It describes honestly what Checkje does with your data.

In short: your tasks are yours. Checkje runs on its own servers in the EU, sells nothing, shows no ads and uses no tracking. You can export or permanently delete all your data at any time.

What Checkje stores

  • Your account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
  • Your content: tasks, lists, tags, subtasks and reminders, exactly as you enter them.
  • Technical: sessions to keep you signed in, and error reports (without task content) to fix outages.

We don't look at your tasks. There is no analytics tracking what you type or click.

Where your data lives

The app and its database run on our own server at OVHcloud in the EU. Backups exist on two levels: automatic server backups at OVHcloud, and continuous database backups to Cloudflare R2, in a bucket with EU jurisdiction, so that copy stays within the EU as well. Error tracking also runs on our own server, not at an external party.

Services we use

Checkje uses as few external services as possible. This is the full list:

Service For What it sees
Resend sending the sign-in link by email your email address
Google signing in with Google (only if you choose to) the login only; never your tasks
Cloudflare R2 storing database backups (EU jurisdiction) a copy of the database
your browser's push service delivering reminders (only if you enable notifications) the push messages for your device

Cookies

Functional cookies only: your session (staying signed in), your language and your theme (light/dark). No tracking or advertising cookies. A few preferences, such as your sort order, live locally in your browser and never leave your device.

Shared lists

If you share a list with a share link, the members of that list can see and edit its tasks. You decide who joins, and you can revoke links and remove members.

AI connections (MCP)

If you connect an AI assistant over MCP, you grant that assistant access to your tasks through your own account. That access covers only your data and can be stopped at any time by removing the connection in the assistant.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. From your profile you can:

  • export everything ("Download my data");
  • delete your account: your account and all your data (tasks, lists, tags and reminders) are removed immediately and permanently.
