Features
Checkje is a fast, smart task list. These are the main features and how they work.
Guided tour
The first time you sign in, a short tour points out the main parts: adding and opening a task, completing or planning ahead, lists, important and tags. You can skip it at any time.
Adding tasks
Click Add task above the list (or press ⌘/Ctrl+Enter) and type the title. The Today, Tomorrow and Date chips schedule the task right away: with a title present, picking a date creates the task immediately. Enter or ⌘/Ctrl+Enter again works too. The pencil icon opens the full editor, carrying over the title and date you already entered.
The full editor holds the rest: a description, time, tags, recurrence, subtasks and a star for important tasks.
On mobile the + button opens the same quick entry as a bottom sheet.
Date view
Tasks are grouped by day: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, then one group per date, with No date last. A recurring task that was scheduled ahead automatically stays hidden until its own day.
Sorting
The Sort menu sets the order within each group:
- Date and time (default): timed tasks first, then in creation order.
- Tag: tasks sharing a tag sit together, untagged tasks last.
- Alphabetical: by title, A to Z.
The choice is remembered and applies everywhere: the list view, the pinned Important section and the Important view.
Tags
Tags are coloured labels, per list. The Tags menu filters the list by one or more tags; Manage tags at the bottom of that menu creates or edits them. The Important view has a tag filter too, built from the tasks it shows.
Important
Star a task and it appears in the pinned Important section on top. The Important view (⌘/Ctrl+I) collects starred tasks across all your lists.
Lists and sharing
Keep separate lists for work, home or a project. Share a list with a share link: anyone with the link can join and edit its tasks. Links can be revoked at any time.
Recurring tasks
A task can repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, with an interval ("every 2 weeks") or on fixed weekdays. Completing a recurring task schedules the next instance automatically; it stays hidden until its own day.
Sharing from Android
Install Checkje as an app ("Add to home screen" in Chrome) and Checkje shows up in Android's share sheet. Share a web page to Checkje and the task editor opens with the page title as the task and the link in the description. (iOS does not support this yet.)
Linking an email to a task
Paste a Gmail message link (the URL from the address bar) into a task's description. The task then shows an Email button that opens the message. Only the link is stored, never the mail's content; the message opens only for whoever has access to that mailbox.
Works with AI
Connect an AI assistant such as Claude over MCP to read and manage your tasks. See MCP server for the setup.
